Meromictic lake (layers of water that do not intermix), is a very important nature asset for Penang located at the North West of Malaysia. It is one of the two lakes present in the whole of Asia. This nature is well surrounded by hills and hence the visitors have to put the effort of trekking or pay hectic amount to waterman to reach this destination (Pentai Kerachut Beach). So this place is still unpopular because of the above said reasons. So far, this heavenly white sand beach and the lake is experienced or recorded by the few westerners and the young residents. This geological formation is also a habitation for turtles and their research foundation is present here. At any point of visit, baby turtles could be seen protected in a tub by the research foundation. They would be let free after a month. After dusk and before dawn, mother turtles of hugh sizes could be found near the shore. They tend to abscond during the human traffic hours. Oldest lighthouse of Penang constructed in the year 1883 at a cost of 37,929 Euro would be visible from the seashore of this white sand beach. There is a separate trekking available to feel and understand the nuances in engineering this lighthouse and the administration technique followed by the British. Another interesting activity in this place is to watch the Eagles hunting for their Fishes. Any visitor enjoying their swim or sunbath in this beach cannot miss viewing an Eagle flying to the seashore from the hill cliff and picking its Fish with an acute sagacity. Residents usually come here as a family or juveniles or a big relative gathering. A day spent here for them would include some swimming, playing various games and having a great self prepared lunch. Foreigners would enjoy their trekking, sunbath and importantly viewing the scenic elements of two hills separated by a sea and the sea and the lake separated by white sands etc., but whoever you are, be safe from jelly fishes around you or else your trip could be spoiled completely. It is definitely a heaven on earth for the first time visitors of this picturesque place.
