When I was first introduced to the internet, it was in Windows98. I loved the internet explorer then. It was an amazing gateway to the universe of internet. It was no surprise that IE6 became the most popular browser in the world.
I was so naive then, that I thought, as long as everything worked in IE why do I care about other browsers?
I started web designing have a decade later and I found the security problems in IE6. As I got disillusioned with IE, I realized the obviousness of the truth.
IE's failure to comply to standards was such a curse that it cripples web development. Things that should work in any browser according to W3C standards don't work. Moreover, IE has a few poison pills: if a website needs to work in IE, the webpage should be designed in such a non-standard way that it cannot work in other browsers.
Lets not get into backward compatibility issues. Websites that work with IE6 won't work with later versions (IE8).
We have faced innumerable difficulties in the development of Zeole, that we are thinking of stopping support of IE6.
What do you think?
