For all those wine drinkers out there...

I found the following news story very interesting. A group of French wine producers from the Languedoc region in France decided to double their profits by mislabeling and selling the wine made using the low cost Syrah and Merlot grapes as Pinot Noir. This continued on until 3.57 million gallons of red wine was sold to the large American wine distributor, E. & J. Gallo, which obliviously sold the wine as Pinot Noir under its Red Bicyclette brand..

Well, the funny part is that no one in the US caught it - all those wine aficionados, connoisseurs and someliers must have smelled and tasted the Pinor Noir, which it was not! What raised the red flag was that the wine producers, in their greed, tried to export so much more wine than what can be produced from the grapes grown in the Languedoc region - the French customs investigated the disparity, nailed the scam and charged the wine producers.

Their defense - “Not a single American consumer complained’’ - can't blame them, can you now?

So, extending the Tamil saying:

Kannaal kaanbadhum poi,
Kaadhaal ketpadhum poi,
Vaayaal rusipadhum poi,
Mookkaal mugharndhadhum poi,
Theera visarippathe mei!
