Derek Redmond, was a contestant at the 400m sprint, on 1992 Olympics. He was talked about as the favorite to win. He had given everything he had got to compete in Olympics, and this was the Semi finals. He had practiced well and he was in the best form of his life.

He heard the shot, and started the sprint. After about 100m he hears a snap on his leg and his hamstring gives up! He feels as though someone shot his leg. After he controls the pain, he realizes he has to continue the race, he sees that the race is already over. Then comes the realization, that it is over! His career is over at that moment.

With the pain still searing through his leg, he decides to do one thing that he came there to do. Finish the race!

He did not finish first in the race.
He did not finish second in the race.
He came last in the race.

But he received a standing ovation by the 65000 strong crowd.
